What we use and why
When you visit the site, the server receives your IP address, the requested page address and information sent by your browser, such as its type. We use this to serve pages, run your checks and limit abuse.
The domains, IP addresses and other values you enter are used for the check you select. Some tools contact the target server directly; others query the services below. A checked address may also appear in the URL, your browser history or access logs.
We rely on our legitimate interest in providing the tools you request and preventing abuse to operate and secure the site. We do not use this data for personalized advertising.
What stays in your browser
- Favorites and your theme choice stay on your device until you change or delete them.
- Tool history covers the last 7 days. Older entries are removed the next time history is used. You can also clear it manually.
- The current domain or IP stays in the tab session to prefill other tools. Connection-check results can be reused in the same tab for 10 minutes.
- Network calculators and the browser information page work locally. Their calculated data is not sent to the server. The speed test transfers automatically generated test data, not your files.
You can clear local data using the tools’ controls or your browser’s settings for this site. Clearing it does not delete server logs.
Cookies and similar storage
The minimalist_request cookie protects requests and expires 30 minutes after its last renewal. The minimalist_language cookie remembers your language for one year. Favorites and history use browser storage. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies.
Services used for checks
These services receive the data needed for the check you start, such as the domain or IP you look up. Requests come from our server; the provider also receives the address you ask it to check.
- DNS — we query the public resolvers Cloudflare, Google, Quad9 and the domain’s authoritative nameservers. The DNS report also uses Team Cymru to identify networks.
- WHOIS — we send the queried domain or IP to IANA and the responsible registry.
- IP location — we compare information from ipwho.is, DB-IP, ipquery.io. Locations are estimates.
- VPN/proxy — at your request, we send your IP to ipquery.io for connection information. Displaying your IP on the homepage does not start this check.
About these services: ipwho.is · DB-IP · ipquery.io
Security and statistics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to measure page views and page performance. Your browser sends Cloudflare information about the page visited, browser and loading times. The service does not use analytics cookies or build advertising profiles.Statistics are collected on minimali.st, not on the beta site. Cloudflare Web Analytics
Cloudflare Turnstile helps us block abusive automated requests. Your browser contacts Cloudflare directly for verification, which processes your IP and technical signals about your browser and connection. Cloudflare Turnstile
External providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Their policies explain how they handle data and the terms that apply to international transfers. Cloudflare
What we keep on the server
DNS reports are cached temporarily, and IP results can be reused for up to one hour. These intervals describe reuse; older files are replaced or removed as the application is used. We do not publish a history of your searches.
Technical access and error logs may contain your IP, the date, URL and request details. We use them to diagnose problems and investigate abuse. Their retention is managed separately from browser history through the hosting server’s settings.
To limit requests, we also keep counters associated with a value derived from your IP. These are not used for advertising tracking.
Your rights and contact
You can use the contact details above to request access, correction, deletion or restriction of your personal data, subject to applicable law. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests. You can also complain to ANSPDCP or the data protection authority where you live.
